David's First Transistor

Description

As a kid, I mowed many suburban lawns in Ohio and saved my earnings to buy this compact-sized transistor radio. As the proud owner, I finally had listening portability and control of the dial. I could hear my tunes, my DJs, my stations, whenever I wanted.

This tiny music machine was easily concealed in bed under my pillow. With its single bud plugged in my ear, I could pull in garage bands from WLS in Chicago, hillbilly tunes from WWVA in Wheeling, West Virginia and soul sensations from WLAC in Nashville, night after night at 2 a.m.
