Description
The painting "Die Begegnung" (The Encounter), which was created three years before the founding of the Bauhaus, Johannes Itten anticipates many characteristics of the Bauhaus’s art with its abstract formal vocabulary: design using geometric forms such as the circle, square and spiral, contrasts of light and dark and varying colour schemes.
