Foresters House in Weissenbach II (Garden)

Description

In the summer of 1914, Klimt vacationed in Weissenbach, where he stayed in the foresters house, a location he painted twice that summer. For this version, Klimt narrowed his focus to the house itself and its lush vegeta- tion, which is organized in horizontal bands of thickly painted colors. This work is reminiscent of Egon Schieles landscapes from the same period.
