Turn Out

Description

Clement Meadmore begins by cutting a small square out of paper, which he then bends and cuts into parts of a circle. After turning and circling these segments, he pins them together to produce a basic model. Turn Out represents only a small variation on this model. The circle remains open at the bottom with the two ends parallel to each other. One end has been pulled outward and then cut, as if to definitively terminate any movement. Turn Outmarks a shift in Meadmores career, announcing changes that the artist would fully realize in monolithic outdoor pieces, such as Verge.
